Ania Etienne

Deputy Director of Social-Emotional Learning, Urban Assembly

Ania-Lisa Etienne is the Deputy Director of Social-Emotional Learning at the Urban Assembly. Ania-Lisa earned her bachelor’s degree from Davidson University in Studio Art and a Masters degree from Touro College in Childhood Education and Special Education. She has 11 years experience in grades 1-8, teaching and coaching others in elementary and middle school communities in New York City. In both teacher and school leader roles, she has worked with school community members to build instructional practices that ensure safe, successful, and supportive learning environments for students. Ania-Lisa has a passion for data analysis and problem solving. As the deputy director of Social Emotional learning, Ania primarily supports the SEL Team in organizing resources, materials, and workflows. She leads the team of UA SEL Specialists in working with schools around implementation, integration and sustainability of Social Emotional Learning. She is incredibly excited about the partnership between Yale's Center for Emotional Intelligence, Trajectory of Hope and the Urban Assembly to continue pushing the needle when it comes to supporting students in developing their social emotional competencies.
